The bad album is my number one favorite from Michael Jackson because of its late 80s feel and best songs are on here. I have always loved the bad era of Michael Jackson he had incredible dance moves and his music was the best. My favorites are speed demon, bad, leave me alone, smooth criminal, and another part of me which was featured in the caption eo movie. I feel this album has that 80s dance pop feel and one of the best beats in his music. He is such a musical genius that is why he has won so many grammy awards and his music has struck number one. The king of pop is also the king of 80s. His music has such a different beat than any 80s music you listen to it was very unique and stood out more. Michael Jackson will always be bad.

I asked myself a few times after stumbling upon this listing a few times. I don''t know what the ASIN refers to, as the item I purchased contained this barcode: 0208313620279 & after entering an Amazon search for it, NOTHING came up. Seller I bought it from is GoPeachy, who were kind enough to provide the barcode and track list via email.

This is the email I sent them:
There are numerous CDs attributed to Michael Jackson with the title "Bad". The back cover-art and track list differ between the original U.S. release (LP, cassette and CD) and the 2001 Special Edition (CD and cassette). There was also a CD-single released at some point in time that contained the #2 best-selling long-player''s title track and I don''t know if there were any variances in the track list in certain countries...and of course there''s the BMG Music Club editions that had no barcode, but, in its place a little stamp that said "mfd by BMG under license". And since there is no picture(s) of the item, nor any informative description, I must ask: what the heck is this item you are offering for sale??! Given the near-bottombarrel price, I understand if you don''t have the time or patience to make it worth while responding to this email with any information. Thanks for reading, at the least~Jonathan

Michael Jackson was an incredible artist in the way that he always was good at reinventing himself, his music, and of course his image. Whether you scrutinize his odd behavior behind the stage, or not, it is impossible to deny the undeniable fact that this man was one of the most original performers of the 20th century- possible of all time (I consider him the most electrifying entertainer to ever grace this planet''s surface- have for years).

This album is just about as good Thriller. Thriller of course wins because I feel that is is perhaps the only "perfect" album in existence. While Thriller''s song list and organization gave it incredible flow (much shorter than Jackson''s later albums) Bad seems to be a lot more random in its song organization. This is not a problem because this contains many of his greatest hits and is always fun to listen through.

Though, for the most part, none of the songs are as perfect as Thriller''s signature tunes it more than compensates for it by providing even more hits than the previous, record breaking album. One thing''s for sure, and that''s `Bad'' had several good, and a few great songs. Jackson made sure to produce several more memorable tunes than most artists can in a lifetime. Very few artists could release an album jam-full of hits, but Michael managed it several times- and even his lesser known works are well-worth looking into.

Bad - The title song is quite the change of pace from Michael''s previous work in Thriller, being the first song where he truly brings out some intensity in his tone- even in the creepy Thriller Michael still sounded like a nice guy. Here he does sound like he could be relatively "bad." The song is like funk being mixed with synthesized instrumentals.

The Way You Make Me Feel - A very catchy, and upbeat courtship tune. Perhaps the best of his "upbeat" love songs (his best -in my opinion- being the more dramatic "You Are Not Alone").

Smooth Criminal - An exciting, incredibly fast-paced song that accounts the story of a girl by the name of Annie''s murder. Though it has a fast, relatively cheerful pace, -and his lyrics are often hard to make-out for first time listeners- if you do manage to get the lyrics it is actually one of the darker songs of his earlier career.
Like Wanna Be Startin'' Something it is hard to pick the darkness in the lyrics, but the difference here is that the musical score gives it a far darker feeling. Natural, since the song describes the brutal murdering of a girl by the name of Annie ("Annie are you okay?") by a "smooth Criminal." This is probably my favorite track on the Bad album.

Man in the Mirror - One of the first of Michael''s many charity based songs in which he gives his plea for humanity to change its way for the betterment of the world. Without a doubt, one of his classic pieces of music, and it is sung with such great emotion. Michael proves his ability to pluck the strings of human emotion with this piece, something he would do in many future "save the Planet/"change the world" songs.

Dirty Diana - A rock based song proves that the King of Pop would have been successful in any genre he chose. The song centers on a woman by the name of Diana who tries to seduce men in positions of wealth and is one of his more intense songs. Other good rock songs (which I feel are better) from the King of Pop include: Beat It (Thriller), and Give In To Me (Lesser known song from Dangerous).

Leave Me Alone - One of the greater changes in pace for MJ''s work, this is a song where he expresses obvious anger over the constant exploitation he receives at the hands of the media and tabloids. Not his best song, but it definitely has the most unique tune on this album.

Now let''s get to the big question: Did Michael take a huge step down from Thriller? Well, anyone who says that this album doesn''t live up to Thriller obviously set their expectations too high- I mean, seriously, there could only be ONE Thriller, and it wasn''t going to be topped, and I''ll tell you that Bad is worthy successor to Michael''s incredible legacy.

The man never gave in and constantly tried to change his style and that''s why he was so successful: he didn''t stay the same so he was always new. Michael tried his best and always laughed-off the fact that he couldn''t even beat his own album''s record.

The Good:

A well mastered special edition CD. Good sound quality for a 1987 recording. Sony has managed to get the sound quality right with MJ''s CDs but failed to get the same impact with his DVDs. I ordered this CD from Amazon in Dec 2008.

I was barely 10 when I first heard this album - ''Bad'', back in 1988. The music instantly grabbed my attention. I was spell bound, the music really stood out from all the other kinds of slow & dull music that was popular at that time. To my young ears it was amazing. I did not get hold of this album until May 1992. I borrowed it from my neighbor & recorded it. I played the recorded cassette tape on a Bush 2-in-1 system, (Remember those boom box days? Lol.) almost everyday, till the tape actually wore out.

In 1993, we shifted to another state, I had the opportunity to explore MJ''s other albums & videos. Made some great friends with common interest in MJ''s music. Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever records one of the best shows ever recorded. It''s the one in which MJ first moonwalked on stage while singing Billie Jean. A pioneer in catchy dance, songs & videos. Always in the news & at times for doing weird stuff. MTV & MJ had a very symbiotic relationship they pushed each other to great heights that is unlikely to happen again. He was the greatest entertainer of our time. Period. Today marks a great loss in the history of music.

I think, I would not have gotten so far into audiophilia, as a hobby, if it was not for this gem of an album. Truly a turning point. I like ''Bad'' better than MJ''s other albums.

If Google is the most powerful information tool of the 21st century & if we were to use it to gauge popularity, then the statistics goes like this: MJ has 80 million articles, Jesus Christ has 40 million articles & The Beatles has 35 million articles. Pls check this for yourself in Google. Alright, I''m not getting into the late 1960s - ''The Beatles vs Jesus Christ'' popularity controversy here. Please forgive me if I have offended anyone reading this. I was only presenting facts from Google the way they are. Peace.

The Bad:

I don''t want to hear Quincy Jones'' commentary / interview in between the last few songs of the CD. That''s what this limited edition MJ''s ''Bad'' CD does & it''s very annoying.

Update: 25Jun 2010:

It''s been an year since I wrote the above review. Today there are 127 million articles in Google for MJ. That makes him the most popular personality on the planet.

Almost everything about this cd is what makes people love MJ''s music. He''s able to bring out things and feelings that others never could. He''s much more personal on this record as he wrote 9 of the 11 original tracks. From "Bad" to "The Way You Make Me Feel" to "Speed Demon" and "Liberian Girl". "Bad" is a varied yet through and potent mix of music that will have you dancing along one minute and then being reflective in the next.

But it''s all done very well and just goes to show that no matter how long ago this record was made. It more than stands up to the test of time and out does many of its peerd. "Bad" is anything but that...looking for another MJ record to add to your collection. Well look no further than "Bad" as just about every song on it. Is worthy of several listens and downloads to whatever device you listen to music with. 11 songs of great work and 3 additional songs - "Streetwalker" "I Can''t Stop Loving You" (Spanish) and "Fly Away".

Gone but never forgotten. You''ll always be in our hearts, MJ.

Whhat''s the difference between a good album and a GREAT album? A good album has a few stand-out songs and once you''ve purchased it you feel like you''ve made a pretty good investment, but after a few weeks or months you lose interest in it. Now, a great album is a totally different experience. A great album is one that you can put in your CD player and let run from beginning to end and not skip any songs because they are all just that good. A great album transcends time and the music never sounds dated. A great album is one that even if you don''t listen to it often, you must have in your collection because it is an investment and not just a mere purchase. Bad is a GREAT album. From start to finish, you''ll be hard pressed to choose just one song as your favorite. I have 3 favorites actually: Liberian Girl, Smooth Criminal, and Leave Me Alone. If you are a Michael Jackson fan, Bad is a must-have. If you are a music fan, Bad is also a must-have. The title is definitely appropriate, he was a Bad man! (in a good way) Long live the King of Pop!!

Michael Jackson wanted Bad to be even better than Thriller. But Thriller was the highest-selling record of all time, winner of 8 Grammys, the start of story-telling in music videos, and the breaker of racial barriers. How could he top it? While Bad failed to perform as well as Thriller, it contained classics such as Smooth Criminal, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana, and I Just Can''t Stop Loving You. Who can''t conjure up an image of the Bad video with the dancing gang, or the Smooth Criminal suit? Bad was an amazing album in its own right, and has become one of my absolute favourites! Bad is all 80s and full of fun. This album makes me happy; it makes me want to dance, it makes me want to have a good time. Each song just feels like a pop masterpiece. This album is varied and has a song for every mood, from the very 80s, feel-good fun of Just Good Friends (why do a lot of people dislike this song?), to the more rocky, sexy Dirty Diana, to the meaningful and emotional Man in the Mirror. If I had to choose between Thriller and Bad, I would choose Bad. Not only does this era have my favourite songs, but my favourite videos! You probably know the classics like Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, Smooth Criminal and Leave Me Alone. But every song on this album is brilliant - there is no filler here at all. You get two bonus tracks, plus voice-overs from Quincy Jones talking about the making of the album, and why one of the bonus tracks, Streetwalker, didn''t make the cut in 1987. I think excluding Streetwalker did the fans of ''87 a great disservice - it has quickly become my ultimate favourite, even topping Dirty Diana and The Way You Make Me Feel, which I love. It might be an acquired taste... it''s very fun, and suits my tastes perfectly, but others might find it silly... Everyone''s different. I''m glad Streetwalker was included on the new release. I have no complaints about this album at all, except for one small thing: I''m So Blue would have been better than Fly Away. But other than that, it''s an A+ album. I believe this was actually MJ''s most popular era, and it''s easy to see why. He was in his prime here, his element - his music appeals to young, old, male, female, kids and adults. His videos are legendary, his choreography second to none. No one has topped MJ and possibly no one ever will. I''m just sad that I wasn''t here to witness this era, and appreciate it, at the time. I would have been right up there at the barrier in my 80s gear, that''s for sure.

But having recently purchased all of Michael Jackson''s major solo albums I am simply in awe of the amazing artist he is. In respect with this album ''Bad'', I think it is my favourite of all of them. It is completely filled with great songs, pretty much all of which could have been hits. I think there are at least 7 or 8 singles on there. Not a single filler here. My personal favourites on here are Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man In The Mirror, I Just Can''t Stop Loving You, Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, and Leave Me Alone. The special edition of this CD also includes the fantastic Streetwalker. This song is so good it is a shame it missed out on the original album. That I did not know, he''s a music genius.
